Posted by Peggy Fredrickson on Jun 26, 2018 8:30:00 AM
We're proud of our scribe of the month winners!

Our scribes work tirelessly day and night serving the best doctors practicing medicine. We believe every single one of them is amazing, but every once in a while there are a handful of scribes who go above and beyond. The PhysAssist Scribe of the Month(SOTM) program was developed to recognize a few stellar individuals each month who embody the essence of what it means to be a scribe. We view these attributes as sincere, caring, responsive, innovative, balanced and efficient.

New Bill Brings Scribes To The VA Hospital

Posted by Holly Case on Jun 20, 2018 8:30:00 AM

Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital

Scribes have made emergency departments more efficient in hospitals all around the country. Until recently, however, Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals were opting out of using this resource. A recently-passed bipartisan bill, the VA Mission Act, includes provisions for a pilot program which will test the results of allowing scribes to work in the VA hospital setting for the first time. But how will this affect both the scribing industry and the care provided to our nation’s veterans?

Quick Reference

  • VA Mission Act includes a two-year pilot program measuring the effects of scribes in select VA facilities
  • The desired outcome is improved medical efficiency through documentation offloading to scribes
  • The VA setting and veteran patient population will present new challenges and opportunities

The VA Mission Act Overview

Even as scribes were active in other hospitals around the country, they were rarely used in VA hospitals. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) proposed a bill, S. 2372, also called the VA Mission Act, intended to improve healthcare for veterans. The bill package includes the VA Medical Scribe Pilot Act, which is designed to alleviate stress and pressure on VA physicians, as well as to increase healthcare access for veterans.

Rep. Greg Walden

Are You Changing For The Sake Of Changing?

Creating meaningful progress can be tough to accomplish when you don’t know what needs to be changed. In many cases people change for the sake of change, which tends to lead to more inefficiencies. Driving change can seem daunting when you look at the big picture. In order to accomplish effective change you have to break it down into small bite-size pieces. You can not build a long-standing building without a strong foundation.

“The first step towards change is awareness, the second step is acceptance,” said Nathaniel Branden

Why is Company Culture Important?

Why is Company Culture Important?

Company culture is the foundation for a strong and cohesive team. It defines and relays a business’s core values, personality, and passion. Strong culture starts with the company’s commitments which then echo through the people that are brought on.

“... the most important distinction to make here is that company culture is something that is pre-existing in your company’s genetic code,” according to Forbes Magazine “If you treat your employees well and have a fun-loving corporate atmosphere, your customers will see you as a fun-loving, generous brand.”
