As the VP of Sales and Marketing, I spend a lot of time talking to medical directors about the value of adding a medical scribe program to their emergency departments. Even though no two EDs are alike, there are common questions every ED asks. Here are the top eight that I come across most often.

ONE  What are medical scribes?

They are integral members of the treatment team who work side-by-side with medical providers in the ED to document directly in the emergency medical record (EMR) in real-time.They are rigorously vetted and go through extensive training in order to know how to properly construct a SOAP note and include all extended documentation, including rechecks and consults. They are "flies on the wall" in patients rooms who ensure doctors' charts are complete for medical and billing purposes.
